First Azerbaijan-USA Business Forum held in Baku

Azerbaijan-USA Business Forum at ADA University / AmCham

The American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AmCham) hosted the first Azerbaijan-U.S.A. Business Forum on December 1st. The goal of the forum was to acquaint American companies to Azerbaijan, its economy, and business opportunities in order to improve business relations between the two countries.

Many representatives of U.S. companies came to Azerbaijan for the conference, including Honeywell, John Deere, International Development of Reinke, AGCO Corporation, Commercial Airplanes Boeing, and TERA International Group, Inc. Also participating in the forum were representatives from ADA University, as well as dignitaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the State Customs Committee, the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the U.S., and the Embassy of the U.S. to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A significant moment of the forum was the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation and promotion of a green corridor and other gating systems for the transportation of goods and vehicles across the customs border for AmCham members. The MOU was signed by the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan and the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

AmCham Executive Director Natavan Mammadova emphasized the importance of the forum for the further development of bilateral economic relations, establishment of new partnerships and exploring untried opportunities between Azerbaijan and the U.S.

Topics of presentations included doing business in Azerbaijan, investment opportunities and privatization. The event also featured sessions on banking and finance, energy and industry, cyber security and e-commerce, agriculture and trade, and transport.
