About Us

Caspian News sprang to life in 2016 and grew out of the realization that high quality, in depth, fact-based reporting on the Caspian Sea region was severely lacking. We are not just another news outlet – Caspian News is the news source for accurate, reliable and interesting information on and perspectives from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan.

As the fastest-growing news outlet in the region, Caspian News covers the latest in politics, business, culture, sports and everything else that matters. We strive to bring policy makers as well as the general, curious reader something different, fresh and new, covering topics from a 360-degree perspective and surpassing traditional regional news coverage.

Through our team’s original reporting, Caspian News steers audiences through the issues while always taking into account local viewpoints and cultural nuances, to ensure our readers understand how regional concerns and priorities tie into the bigger picture in Eurasia and beyond.

Our team of 21 journalists and contributors deliver accurate, reliable and timely information in an easily readable, online format, reporting from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan.

Recognizing that the region’s economies and geopolitics are inextricably linked with surrounding areas, our highly skilled reporters, editors and linguists also cover news from other countries of the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Black Sea regions.

Caspian News Opinion section is where thought leaders, government officials, academics, security and economic experts, and many others, come together to offer insightful viewpoints on what are multifaceted and complex issues, like the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, energy resources development, and Eurasian trade expansion.
