The national mini football team of Azerbaijan has advanced to the semi-finals of the World Mini Football Federation (WMF) World Cup 2023 in Ras Al Khaimah, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Azerbaijan's team defeated the Bulgarian team with a score of 3:1 in the quarter-finals on Thursday, securing their place in the semi-finals.

Azerbaijani athletes are set to compete against the team from Kazakhstan in the semi-final match scheduled for Friday. In the other semi-final, Hungary and Romania will vie for a spot in the tournament's ultimate game, to be held on Saturday.

In the round of 8 on Wednesday, the Azerbaijani mini football team outperformed Portugal with a score of 3:0. During the group stage, the Azerbaijani squad won all three games, recording victories of 2:0 against Iraq, 4:1 against Egypt, and 3:1 against Kuwait.

The Minifootball World Cup is the premier event in the sport and the largest competition organized by the World Minifootball Federation (WMF). The 2023 Minifootball World Cup is taking place in the city of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, from October 26 to November 4, featuring 32 teams from around the world.

If the national mini football team of Azerbaijan advances to the final and wins the ultimate game of the 2023 Minifootball World Cup, it could secure its second major trophy in history. In June 2022, they claimed the title in the European Mini Football Championship, Euro 2022 in Slovakia.
