Athletes, Huseyn Aliyev and Bakhtiyar Abbasov, returned home to Azerbaijan yesterday, December 7, following their striking gold medal victories at the Mixed Martial Arts World Championship, held in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
Joining fighters from throughout the world, both Azerbaijanis outshined scores of rivals on their way to the top spot, representing the Gabala Sports Club. Although, mainly known for football, Gabala Sports Club has trained and sent mixed martial art fighters into competition since 2013.
Aliyev and Abbasov, now with a gold medal each, join numerous successful athletes from the club, who represent Azerbaijan in various competitions throughout the world.
