F1 Experiences, an official travel package provider for the Formula 1 races worldwide, launched an inaugural Fan Festival in Barcelona, Spain on Thursday, ahead of this weekend’s Formula 1 Gran Premio de Espana Pirelli 2017 racecar competition.

“The launch of this weekend’s Fan Festival marks the beginning of this journey, and we are excited about bringing races to life in this way over the course of the season and beyond,” said Sean Bratches, Managing Director and Commercial Operations at Formula 1.

This season’s first European F1 event in Barcelona will have a reimagined fan zone that will introduce a range of unique experiences such as racing simulators, a 200-metre zip line, state of the art Pit Stop Challenges and live performances from local DJs.

For the first time ever in F1 fan zone, one lucky winner will get the chance to experience the thrill of a Formula 1 lap as they are driven around the track at speeds of up to 300 km/h in a two-seater racing car. The launch of a dedicated fan television channel will provide a chance to get the inside track into the race, screening live Formula 1 interviews, expert insights, and exclusive appearances by current drivers and legends of the sport.

“From the outset, we have focused on getting fans closer to the action and broadening the appeal of the sport,” Bratches said.

“From the pit lane to the fan zone, we have worked hard to ensure that loyal fans, who travel the world to support Formula 1, enjoy the best possible experience and we aim to build on this at future races,” said Kate Beavan, Global Director of Hospitality, Experiences and Packages at Formula 1.

The Spanish Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, May 14 as the fifth competition of the Formula-1 2017 Season, which started in March in Australia and will wrap up in Abu-Dhabi in November this year. The racing will run through 66 laps in the 4.655 km-long circuit in southern Barcelona city of Spain. Spain has been hosting F1 racecar competitions since 1991.

Caspian region country Russia hosted the fourth racing contest in 2017, on April 30, 2017. Azerbaijan, also part of the Caspian region, is scheduled to host the eighth grand prix on June 25.
