The European Union (EU) is Azerbaijan's largest trading partner, according to a State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan report. The report also states that between January and October of 2016, trade partners of Azerbaijan included a total of 274 countries, with exports to 169 countries and imports from 105 countries.
According to the committee, exports reached over 10.8 billion dollars, whereas imports reached nearly 7 billion dollars, resulting in a positive balance for Azerbaijan. Nearly half of these exports and imports can be attributed to EU nations (36.7%) and members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (12.1%). The balance of the import and export partners were from countries across the globe, including the United States.
