Kazakhstani Singer Wins Chinese GRAMMYs

Dimash is one of Kazakhstan's most talented and up-and-coming singers

Dimash Kudaibergen, a 22 year-old singer from Kazakhstan, won the Most Popular International Singer award at the 17th Top Chinese Music Awards in Shenzhen, China on Sunday.

Dimash performed the song “An Unforgettable Day” at the annual event, considered China’s equivalent to the Grammy Awards.

Dinmukhamed Kudaibergen, better known as “Dimash,” is one of Kazakhstan’s most talented and up-and-coming singers and considered a source of national pride. He has received multiple awards in the region, and was recognized by the President of Kazakhstan for strengthening the unity of the country’s citizens.

Dimash is currently competing in the Chinese “I Am a Singer” reality TV show, where on Saturday he cleared the first round of the final competition. He will move on to the second and final round next Saturday.

On March 27 Dimash clinched the Best Asia Popular Singer with a French song, “S.O.S d'un Terrien en Détresse.” Dimash will perform at the Astana Expo 2017, an international exhibition whose main theme is sustainable energy. The event will run for three months, and begins June 10.
